  • The armed robber who broke into a home in the Woodmill Apartment complex was forced to leave empty-handed after the victim escaped and called police.
The break-in occurred at 7:10 p.m. Friday, May 24, in Building I of the multi-unit apartment complex on 1300 S. Farmview Drive, said Dover Police Department spokesman Lt. Daniel McKeown.
The victim said the burglar kicked in the apartment door, armed with a sawed-off shotgun and demanded money. Instead, the victim jumped off a second-story balcony and alerted police. The burglar fled immediately; nothing was missing from the apartment, McKeown said.
The burglar apparently tried to force his way into another apartment in the same building, but was not successful, McKeown added.
The burglar is described as a thin black man, standing 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
