  • Edward D. Bailey of Dover, Delaware passed away on Monday May 20th 2013 at Cadia Rehabilitation center at Broadmeadow in Middletown, Delaware from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He was 84.
    Edward Bailey was born February 25, 1929 in Clayton, Delaware, and was the last child of John and Nora Bailey of Clayton.
    He was the proprietor of his own award winning Texaco station on Rt 13 in Dover; he also worked for Goodyear Tire and Service in Dover and retired from Carl King fuel company in Camden, Delaware. After retirement Edward and his wife spent many winters at their place in Bradenton, Florida.
    Edward was a regular member of Peoples Church in Dover. He enjoyed working around the house and loved cutting grass. He was a serious hockey fan and loved spending time with his family.  
    Edward was the youngest of 14 children, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary Alice Bailey, his 13 brothers and sisters and his parents. He is survived by his three sons, Donald Bailey of Erial, NJ; Robert Bailey and his wife Donna of Forest Hill, MD and Brian Bailey of Dover. He is also survived by five grandchildren, David Bailey, Stephen Bailey, Shannon Bailey, Brent Bailey and Blair Bailey.
    Friends may call at 10 am, Saturday, May 25th at Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main Street Smyrna, Delaware, where funeral services will begin at 11 am. Christian burial will follow the service at Sharon Hills cemetery in Dover.
