  • Denise M. Kowinsky passed away April 8, 2013 in her home. She was 58. Denise was born on March 25, 1955 in Paramus, NJ. She had worked for the Department of Corrections in Smyrna for 27 years where she retired as a Lieutenant. She was a trainer of K-9’s and their handlers both men and women. She was a recipient of many National/State awards and trophies for competitions. Denise also judged National K-9 competitions. Denise played softball for the Bank of Wyoming in the women’s league, played the guitar and drums where she wrote her own songs, and also would sing around the camp fire on the beach. She loved taking trips in her RV and on her motorcycle. Denise was known as the life of the party. She loved to help people, to the extent of giving them a place to stay in her home. She is preceded in death by her mother Margaret L. Everett Pajorski, her stepfather Lewis “Dickie” Everett and several K-9 kids. Denise is survived by her father, Joseph S. Kowinsky, Jr. and his wife Jean, a sister, Deborah L. Carter and her husband Richard, her nephew Tyler Henderson who lived with her as her caregiver for the last eight years, an uncle Fred Kowinsky and his wife Karen, Aunt Joan Hennessey, two nephews Jeremy Henderson and his wife Lisa and Tyler Henderson, two great nephews Mason Henderson and Brennan Henderson, and three nieces Cheyenne Lynn Henderson, Savannah Rayne Henderson and Avery Elizabeth Henderson, her very special best friend, Debbie Webb, who was like a sister, plus several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Burial will be at Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
