Capitol Police have charged a DelDOT employee with using a fellow employee's credit card to take approximately $500 from area ATMs.
Officers with the Capitol Police have charged a DelDOT employee with stealing a coworker’s credit card and then taking approximately $500 from the individual’s account.
Capitol Police arrested Aron Johnson, 40, on Wednesday, said department spokeswoman Kimberly H. Chandler.
The case began when the victim reported the card missing on May 6, Chandler said. During their investigation, police determined Johnson allegedly took the card and then took a state vehicle without authorization, using it to drive to several ATMs in the area to withdraw the cash.
Approximately $500 was removed using the stolen card, Chandler said.
Johnson turned himself in May 8, and was charged with identity theft, theft of under $1,500 from a disabled victim and theft of a motor vehicle. He was jailed at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna after failing to pay a $2,500 secured bail.
