  • The Delaware Association for the Education of Young Children, member organization of early childhood professionals, announces the annual Early Childhood Advocacy Day will take place at Legislative Hall in Dover, from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8.
The group is asking for citizens to attend to show support for young children, their families, early childhood education and the providers who work tirelessly to provide quality care and education.
Early Childhood Advocacy Day is an opportunity to connect with others, to celebrate accomplishments, to advocate and to educate legislators and the general public about issues concerning the care and education of children ages birth to 8 years old.
This year, the association's focus is to thank the Delaware legislature for allocating funds for early childhood which will:
    1. Increase Purchase of Care (POC) rates for all providers
    2. Increase access to quality child care for all children through DE Stars (QRIS)
    3. Implement a tiered reimbursement system for DE Stars, linking quality to increased reimbursement rates for providers demonstrating higher levels of quality
    4. Increase the education and readiness of the workforce by supporting provider scholarships
    4. Support the Race To The Top Early Learning Challenge Grant.
The vision of the Delaware Association for the Education of Young Children (DAEYC) is to serve and act on behalf of the needs, rights and well-being of all young children and their families in Delaware. DAEYC will promote high quality early care and education programs for all children, birth to age 8.
