A Dover man is in jail after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend in a domestic assault case.
The incident took place April 20 at a residence in the Liberty Court apartment complex at 1289 Walker Road, said Dover Police Department spokesman Lt. Joseph Richardson. On arriving at the scene, officers discovered the suspect, identified as Calvin B. Hoskins, 50, of the unit block of Howell Street, Dover, was intoxicated and had refused to leave the residence when asked by his girlfriend. Hoskins allegedly slapped the woman, then took a kitchen knife and began stabbing at her.
The struggle led to the woman suffering injuries to an arm, Richardson said.
Hoskins was taken into custody at the scene. The woman was treated at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital for her wounds.
Hoskins was charged with first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony, offensive touching and malicious interference with emergency communications. He was ordered held on a $40,200 secured bail.
