On the morning of April 17, Delaware State Troopers responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Bertha Drive. They found Shirley Smith, 32, of Dover, hiding in a closet. Smith gave the troopers a fake name, but none the less troopers identified her and discovered that she was wanted on several capiases.
When Troopers took Smith into custody, she spit on a resident of the home and a Trooper. Smith began to complain that she needed immediate medical attention for a preexisting condition. She was transported to Kent General Hospital by ambulance. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, Smith fled.
Troopers have obtained a warrant for Smith's arrest on two counts of offensive touching of another with saliva, criminal impersonation, resisting arrest, escape third degree and offensive touching.
