Albert Edward Hastings passed away on Monday April, 15th at the Pinnacle Rehabilitation Center in Smyrna following an illness, he was 72 years old. He was born December 27th, 1940 to Albert Leslie Hastings and Mae Agnes Hastings in New Haven, CT.
Albert is preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Devorah Hastings. He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Wade Messick Hastings, his daughter, Deanne Bennett, and her husband, Howard, his sons, Michael Hastings, and Tom Hastings; his stepson, Michael Messick, and his wife, Ruthann, stepson, Jon Messick, and his wife, Amber, and his stepson, Christopher Messick, and his wife, Amy, as well as his sister, Pat Webb, and her husband, Landis, sister, Linda Wiley, and his brother, Ron Hastings, and his wife, Connie, 3 grandchildren, and 7 step-grandchildren.
Albert proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring after 20 years of duty. He toured both Korea and Vietnam, and was stationed at many locations in the United States. Albert enjoyed working on cars, and was at home in the garage. After retiring from the USAF he displayed this affection and knowledge of cars by working as a sales associate at the Advanced Auto and L&D Auto stores. Albert was especially fond of his pet pugs. While they were all close to his heart, he was particularly close with Tinkerbell.
A viewing for Albert will be held at the Pippin Funeral Home, located at 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE at 11AM on Tuesday April 23rd. Services will begin at 12 Noon, and burial will take place at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE at 2PM. Letter of condolence may be sent via http://www.pippinfuneralhome.com/.
