Dover Police arrested a local man after he allegedly fired several gunshots.
The incident took place April 14 in the area of Walker Road and Bicentennial Boulevard after the department received several calls about gunshots, said police spokesman Lt. Jason Pires.
Several units patrol units responded and contacted a man, identified as Erick Morton, 27, who matched the description of the shooter, Pires said. A search found Morton in possession of a .40-caliber handgun that had been reported stolen to Delaware State Police Troop 3.
Further investigation showed Morton was not allowed to possess a handgun based on prior felony drug convictions.
There was no property damage or personal injuries reported because of the shooting, Pires said.
Morton, of the 900 block of Clara St. Extended, was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon; possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited; and receiving a stolen firearm.
He was jailed at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna in default of a $72,000 secured bond.
