  • The Newark Police Department is investigating a fatal collision which occurred on Saturday at the CSX rail line behind the 100 block of East Cleveland Avenue in Newark.

  • The Newark Police Department is investigating a fatal collision which occurred on Saturday at the CSX rail line behind the 100 block of East Cleveland Avenue in Newark. At approximately 7:25am CSX train was travelling westbound when 20 year old Nolan Sandlin of Dover entered onto the tracks, where he was struck by the train. Sandlin was a University of Delaware Student. He was by himself at the time of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
    Investigators have determined that Sandlin stepped into the path of the westbound freight train.
    No foul play is suspected and the investigation is ongoing. The victim’s body was turned over to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
