  • Rough start dooms Senators; Dover boys fall to Wilmington Friends 13-8

  • The Dover Senators boys lacrosse squad fell to 4-2 on the season after a 13-8 loss to Wilmington Friends on Saturday night.
    The Senators entered Saturday’s match up riding high, but were quickly humbled by a rough start against Friends. The Quakers struck early and often, putting 4 first quarter goals in the Dover net to take a 4-0 lead heading into the second quarter.
    In the 2nd, the Dover offense would awaken finally getting on the board scoring 3 in the quarter. Unfortunately, the Quaker offense would continue their offensive charge, putting 3 more goals into the Dover net to take a 7-3 lead into the break.
    The Senators would continue to try and claw their way toward a comeback cutting the Quaker lead to 9-6 heading into the final stanza.
    In the 4th, the Quaker defense would clamp down and their offense would continue to be potent putting 4 more goals on the board while allowing only 2 to the Senators to preserve the win.
    Archie Donatiu led the way for the Senators scoring 3 goals for Dover, while Josh Clendaniel found the back of the net twice in the loss. Chris Reid, Jordon Robinson and Ryan McQuaide all tallied for the Senators, as well.
    Quaker goaltender Max Davis was able to withstand a late shooting gallery from the Senators making 14 saves on Saturday night.
    Ben Hanson and Sean Kirkpatrick were a thorn in the Senator’s side, combining for 9 of the Quakers 13 goals.
    The Senators hope to bounce back from Saturday’s loss when they return to the field on Wednesday night. The 0-2 Milford Bucs will visit Dover on Wednesday night looking for their first win in a Henlopen North battle, game-time 7:00 p.m.
