  • Two Middletown HS graduates show their talent on the college level, and were rewarded last week for their excellent play.

Delaware State senior Ryan Haas earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in baseball, the conference announced on Monday. Teammate Elliott Gardner was named Pitcher of the Week.
Haas (1B, 6-1, 225, Sr., Bear, Del.) batted .667 (6-for-9), including six runs scored, three doubles and nine RBI to aid the Hornets to a 3-0 conference series victory over Maryland Eastern Shore last week. Haas stole a base and added 25 putouts in the victories. He also posted a .750 on-base percentage for the week.
Gardner (P, 6-2, 185, Sr., Middletown, Del.) earned the win with a 0.00 ERA in 7.0 innings against Maryland Eastern Shore. Gardner did not allow any runs earned or unearned and struck out five of the 23 batters he faced.
