Garland Dale Meyer, 92, of The Villages, Florida, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in Sumterville, FL. He was born July 5, 1920 in Fairmont, Minnesota. He moved to The Villages 1 year ago from Dover DE. Mr. Meyer was a retired Master Sgt. in the US Air Force during WWII and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a maintenance superintendent for the Delaware Home and Hospital for the chronically ill in Smyrna, DE. He enjoyed traveling, RVing, camping, boating and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Ardis M. Meyer of The Villages, FL; his sons, Richard L. Meyer (Jeannie) of The Villages, FL, and Gary B. Meyer of Longview, WA; his daughters, Jeanne Feurer (Thomas) of Frederica, DE, Mary Beth Day of Palm Coast, FL; his sister, Phyllis Brewster of Colorado; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Steven Dale Meyer (1979).
Graveside services will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on Friday, March 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Chaplain Joe Walker officiating and full military honors will be conducted by MacDill Air Force Base Honor Guard.
