  • A Harrington man has been jailed after he was charged with his fourth count of driving under the influence.
Police arrested Thomas J. Lepera, 46, on March 20 after stopping his vehicle for a traffic violation on Commerce Street, said Harrington Police Department spokesman Lt. Earl K. Brode.
Brode said officers caught the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and tried to administer field tests to Lepera, but he refused the tests and refused to take a breathalyzer test.
Lepera then was taken to Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital to have blood drawn, Brode said.
A computer check at the Harrington Police Department showed Lepera had three previous DUI convictions, Brode said.
Lepera was charged with fourth offence DUI, failure to have insurance identification, failure to have registration, failure to have a license, failure to signal a turn and two counts of failure to remain in a single lane.
He was jailed at the Sussex Correctional Institute in Georgetown in default of a $4,006 secured bond.
