  • Harrington Police have arrested a local man after he was seen allegedly taking the lids off recycling bins.
The incident took place March 20, said department spokesman Lt. Earl K. Brode, when officers received a call about someone taking the lids off bins at the W.T. Chipman Middle School.
Brode said officers found the suspect, identified as Robert L. Kopp Sr., 68, of the unit block of Clark Street, at the school. Brode said officers searched a wagon in Kopp's possession and found several recycling bin lids.
Kopp was charged with theft under $1,500, criminal mischief under $1,000 and third-degree trespass. He later was released pending a court appearance.
