  • A 21-year-old Middletown man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly making threatening comments at Kent County Superior Court in Dover.
Kameron Simmons was waiting in the screening area of the courthouse at the 414 Federal Street just before 1 p.m. when he turned to a person next to him and asked if “they brought their AK-47s with them”, according to a press release Delaware Capitol Police issued Thursday.
Capitol Police spokesman Lt. Terry Helsel said the comment, a reference to a well-known brand of assault rifle, was overheard by an officer in the screening area.
“The officer asked him to repeat it, and he did,” Helsel said, adding it was not immediately clear what business Simmons had at the court Wednesday.
Following his arraignment on a terroristic threatening charge, Simmons was released on $2,000 unsecured bond.
