Making clean, smooth cuts in sheet metal with metal snips is easier using this tip from Club member Keith Parks of Rochester, New York. After marking his finish cutting line, he makes a rough cut about 1/2 in. from the line to remove most of the excess sheet metal. Then he makes the final cut on the line. The narrow waste piece curls effortlessly away from the snips. He also points out that making short cuts with the snips, rather than long ones, will produce a smoother cut.
