  • A Kent County woman was cited for driving a school bus carrying Seaford School District students off the road in Sussex County Thursday.
The 2008 Freightliner owned by Chambers Bus Company was heading southeast on Cool Branch Road, southeast of Seaford, about 3:15 p.m. when the bus left the roadway at a curve just west of Kaye Road, Delaware State Police Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said. The school bus ended up in a farm field, where it became stuck in the mud, he said.
The bus driver, Susan M. Burgess, 41, of Magnolia, was cited for failure to maintain a single lane and failure to provide proof of insurance, Fournier said.
Six students suffered minor injuries as a result of the accident, Fournier said. The six students, ranging in age from 10 to 17, all were treated at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford for non-life-threatening injuries.
Traffic near Cool Branch Road was impacted for about an hour while police investigated and cleared the crash.
