A state trooper traveling northbound on Bay Road at around 11:12 a.m. Saturday morning observed a dark blue Crown Victoria that failed to use its signal to turn westbound on East Lebanon Road after exiting Route one. The vehicle continued to commit traffic violations by making unsafe lane changes before the trooper conducted a traffic stop behind the Wawa on Route ten. Upon gathering information from the driver, Terrance A. Oliver, the trooper returned to his patrol car, where he performed a computer inquiry into Oliver’s driving record.
When the trooper was unable to locate any information on Oliver, he began to return to the vehicle. Oliver then fled at a high speed. The trooper gave chase westbound onto Route 10 crossing South State Street. The Crown Victoria made a U-turn and began traveling eastbound on South Route ten. The car turned southbound on South State Street where it continued to pass other cars at a high speed and eventually turned westbound on Sorghum Mill Road, where it crossed through a red light and onto Voshells Mill Star Hill Road. The car eventually turned left onto Headstart Lane and began driving in a field behind the Greater Life Christian Church. Oliver then jumped from the moving vehicle, which eventually crashed into the porch of the church, and attempted to flee. The trooper was able to take him into custody with the use of his departmental issued Taser.
Upon searching the area of the crash, troopers located 199 bags of heroin totaling more than 4.9 grams, which Oliver had attempted to discard as he was fleeing. He was also in possession of more than $450.00 in suspected drug profits. Oliver was transported back to Troop three where he was arrested on the above listed drug and traffic charges. He was arraigned at JP7 and committed to JTVCC on $35,514.00 secured bond.
The structural integrity of the church was still intact.
