A Dover man was arrested for stabbing another man early Tuesday morning on the unit block of South New Street in the city.
Dover Police investigated a stabbing complaint that occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at Kent Apartment, 30 S. New St., in Dover, Dover Police Captain Tim Stump said. The defendant, Charles Tilghman, 34, had violated an active No-contact Order when he entered the 2nd floor apartment, grabbed a kitchen knife, and stabbed the 34 year old male victim in the chest causing serious injury, he said.
Tilghman then fled from the residence but was later apprehended by Dover PD, Stump said.
The victim is in stable condition at BayHealth-Kent General Hospital. Tilghman, of 223 Trafalgar Drive, was charged with first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, burglary, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited and breach of release.
He was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional near Smyran in default of $41,500 secured bond.
