  • City of Dover Councilman Dave Bonar has been appointed to the National League of Cities 2013 Finance, Administration & Intergovernmental Relations Policy and Advocacy Committee.

  • City of Dover Councilman Dave Bonar has been appointed to the National League of Cities 2013 Finance, Administration & Intergovernmental Relations Policy and Advocacy Committee.
    This Committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving national economic policy, general financial assistance programs, liability insurance, intergovernmental relations, Census, municipal bonds and capital finance, municipal management, antitrust issues, citizen participation and civil rights, labor relations, Native American sovereignty and municipal authority.
    The appointment was announced by NLC President Marie Lopez Rogers, mayor, Avondale, Arizona.
    "This allows another opportunity for me to serve and represent the citizens of Dover," Bonar said. :Making a difference at a higher level, influencing decisions, and giving suggestions can then, in turn make a difference in our own community with the constituents I have been elected to represent."
    As a member of the committee, Bonar will play a key role in shaping NLC's policy positions, while advocating on behalf of America's cities and towns on Capitol Hill, with the administration and at home.
    The chair of this year's Finance, Administration & Intergovernmental Relations Committee is Robert Avery, council member, Gadsden, AL. Serving as this year's vice chairs are Sarah Levison, council member, Longmont, CO and Cynthia Mangini, councilmember-At-Large, Enfield, CT.
