Keep your favorite issues safe

Here’s a neat way to organize back issues of “American Profile.” Club member Gary Baumgartner of Corpus Christi, Texas, uses a tubing drill bit that he makes from a 3/8-in.-dia. x 3-in.-long stainless steel tube. To make a cutting edge, he sharpens the inside of both ends of the tube using a Dremel tool and a cone-shaped sharpening stone. Sharpening the inside leaves the outside tube wall straight and prevents binding. He chucks the tube into his drill press and bores at low speed to avoid damaging the magazine. When one end of the hole-boring bit gets dull, just flip it over.
