Tonight, one of the biggest rivalries in the state between Caesar Rodney and Dover enters another chapter on the hardwood. With both the boys and girls games about to tip-off in about 2 hours, let’s take a look at where each team stands going into tonight’s matchups.

Dover (5-11) @ Caesar Rodney (8-7) – Tipoff 7:15 p.m.

Unfortunately, it looks as if the Lady Senators are playing for pride with a 5-11 record and only 4 games remaining.  Last week, there was a bit of optimism surrounding Dover after two straight wins over Dickinson and Henlopen North foe, Milford. However, after dropping their last two games to Cape Henlopen and Smyrna things aren’t looking great for the Lady Senators. Though, possibly playing spoiler against a heated rival should certainly motivate the Lady Senators tonight.

The Lady Riders have won 5 of their last 7 games and come into tonight’s contest on the heels of a double-digit win over Sussex Tech.  However, they find themselves in third place in the Henlopen North behind Sussex Central and Smyrna with little time to make up ground. A win tonight could make their meeting the Eagles next Friday meaningful.

Caesar Rodney (5-12) @ Dover (9-7) – Tipoff 7:15 p.m.

Similar to the girls match up tonight, one team is playing for their playoff lives while the other is playing for pride. Unfortunately for the Riders, who stand at 5-12, they started the season off badly and simply couldn’t regroup or put together enough wins to get on a roll this season. They come in as losers of 3 straight, but a win against rival Dover on Senior Night could be motivation enough for the Riders tonight.

About two weeks ago things weren’t looking great for the Senators who found themselves at 5-7 with only 8 games remaining. Since then, Dover is undefeated winning 4 in a row against Mt. Pleasant, Milford, Smyrna and Cape Henlopen. Now, the Senators find themselves only 2 games back of first place Sussex Tech in the Henlopen North. With a meeting against second place Sussex Central upcoming for the Senators, they need to keep winning.
