Shirley A. Moore-Frazier, of Woodside, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in Bayhealth Kent General Hospital. She was 74.
Shirley was born September 16, 1938 in Greensboro, Maryland to Ella Eveland Hutson and the late Medford Hutson. She was raised in Greensboro, Maryland and moved to Delaware in1958. She was a homemaker, and later worked for Polytech High School in Food Service for 25 years until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of the Woodside United Methodist Church, having taught Sunday school there in the early 1960’s while her children were younger. She enjoyed cooking, camping at Duck Neck, in Chestertown, MD, and Chincoteague, VA, and was always most happy when she was with her family and her friends, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was officially known as “Mom Mom Shirley, or Mom Mom Rosie.” She was a kind and gentle spirit and was very social and out-going, and made friends wherever she went. She was also a proud Breast Cancer Survivor.
Shirley was preceded in death by; her first husband, Benjamin F. Moore, Sr. in 1995, and most recently, her second husband, Donald L. Frazier on November 14, 2012, a brother, John F. Hutson, of Greensboro, MD, and a grandson, Arthur A. Weeks III of Dover.
She is survived by her mother, Ella E. Hutson of Greensboro, MD, two sons, Benjamin F. Moore, Jr. (Janine), and Francis E. “Butch” Moore (Crystal) of Wyoming, two daughters, Cynthia A. Warren (Michael) of Woodside and Michele R. Weeks (Chuck) of Dover, her Best Friend and adopted daughter, Bonnie L. McClements of Dover. Three brothers, Joseph R. Hutson, (Barbara), M. Wayne Hutson, (Beverly) of Greensboro, MD, Medford Hutson of Oil City, MD, and her sister, Patsy Jean Shockley of Clayton, and immediate family, Mary and Eugene Moore of Leipsic. Also surviving are her nine grandchildren, Holly Weeks Warrington, Branden E. Moore, Wayne Francis Moore, Laura L. Weeks Bower, Kurt M. Warren, Kelsey M. Warren, Alex McDonald, Andy McDonald, and Amanda McDonald. Her great-grandchildren, MacKenzie N.Warrington, Savannah R.Warrington, Haley J.Moore, Jacob D.Bower, Ashtyn L.Bower, Mayson McDonald, Brayden Cutchin, and a new one expected in June. She was also survived by many special Friends, Nieces and Nephews, and honorary grandchildren especially from Party Paradise Summer Camp Kids. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff from Bay Health Hospital, Milford Center, Silver Lake Center, and Heritage at Dover, and all of her Health Care providers.
Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, DE 19901, where friends may call from 6 to 8 Monday evening and from noon until 1 P.M. Tuesday. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
Instead of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the Woodside United Methodist Church Building Fund, Woodside, DE 19980.
