Dover scored 17 points in the fourth quarter to run past Smyrna High in a key late season Henlopen contest Friday night on the Eagles home court.

Dover trailed early as the Eagles started on a high note, scoring 20 points in the opening quarter behind the hot shooting of Ja'vier Worthy and Stedman Kpana. Meanwhile, the Senators managed only 9 points.

Dover came roaring back in the second period to burst the Eagles bubble by scoring 20 points, holding the Eagles to only 10, and then developing a s32-30 lead as the first half came to a close.

The Eagles got better shooting in the third quarter that helped them regain a 47-44 lead. However, Dover rallied for 17 points in the fourth quarter, and the Senators pressed on defense to turn the tide and grab the 61-57 road victory.

Smyrna's top scorer was Worthy with 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Kpana added 10 points, Javon Hunter had 9 and Perry Goode added 7 points. The Eagles' next scheduled games Thursday against Salesianum at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday against Cape Henlopen at 6:15 p.m.

The Senators Keith Rollerson led all scorers with 25 points. He was helped by Will Watts with 16 and Tyler Myers added six points. Watts had three 3-pointers and Myers had two 3's. Dover's next games are Thursday, at home against Caesar Rodney at 7:15 p.m. and on Saturday at Hodgson Vo-Tech at 1:15 in the afternoon.
