Jamar West, 26, of Dover, was arrested for recently shooting and striking the car of an 18-year-old and a parked car on South Governors Avenue.

Dover Police arrested a suspect for the shooting that occurred on South Governors Avenue on Jan. 20.

Dover Police Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Unit/Detective Section with assistance from Detectives from the Drug, Vice and Organized Crime Section and Operation Safe Streets obtained arrest warrants for Jamar West, 26, of the unit block of Presidential Drive in Dover, for the shooting on S. Governor s Avenue in which an 18-year-old man's car and another, parked care were damaged by gunfire, Lt. Alan Rachko said. Their investigation revealed the shooting was a result of a physical altercation that occurred in front of 26 S. Governors Avenue involving numerous subjects, he said.

West was arrested a short time later by the Community Policing Section without incident, Rachko said.

West was charged with first-degree reckless endangering, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, second-degree conspiracy, three counts of criminal mischief and violation of probation, Rachko said.

He was arraigned and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $38,500.00 secured bond.

West was also committed by Probation and Parole Officers on a Probation Violation. That bond was set at $50,000.00.
