  • Gene L. Hart of Dover, DE, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE.

    He was 65.

    Gene was born in Smyrna, DE to the late George and Juanita Allen-Hart.
    Gene was proud to have served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army.

  • Gene L. Hart of Dover, DE, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE.
    He was 65.
    Gene was born in Smyrna, DE to the late George and Juanita Allen-Hart.
    Gene was proud to have served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army.
    He worked for many years as a Foreman and Heavy Equipment Operator.
    He was a member of the Smyrna Moose and American Legion, Walter L. Fox Post #2, where he held a position on the Holding Committee. Gene was also a Charter Member of the Walter L. Fox Post #2, American Legion Riders where he served as a Road Captain.
    Gene enjoyed camping, bowling, hunting, vacationing, and riding his Harley, but most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, George Jr., Winfield and Herbert P. Hart; and two sisters, Veronica V. and Nannabelle D. Hart.
    He is survived by his wife of forty years, Janet M. Hart; his daughter, Destini D. Hart; his sisters, Jacqueline Faulkner, Margaret Hufford and Dorothy Cordeiro; nephews and nieces, Richard Hart, Rodney Slaughter, Tammy Slacum, April Kennedy, Amy Tracey, Terry Kines, Pam Bombard, Brian Faulkner, Michael Faulkner, Special Friends Larry, Ruby & John Dillmore, and the "joy of his heart," his granddaughter, Harley M. Steele.
    A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 10 am to 12 noon in the Faries Funeral Chapel located at 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, DE. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon.
    Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover.
    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19904.
