  • A train collided into a pickup truck along North Railroad Avenue in Wyoming early this morning. The driver of the truck is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
The crash occurred at around 3 a.m., Wednesday, as Jacob J. Founds, 32 of Dover, was driving a Ford Ranger southbound on North Railroad Avenue, attempting to turn eastbound onto West Camden-Wyoming Avenue.
Founds began his turn too soon and lodged his pickup truck across the tracks north of the roadway rendering it disabled, police said. Founds was able to exit the truck and attempted to push the truck off the track to no avail.
The railroad was cleared of pedestrians as a Norfolk Southern train traveling northbound approached the area. Unable to stop in time, the train struck the truck on the right bumper, spinning it clockwise and pushing it approximately 30 feet, police said.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the crash, police said.
Founds was taken into custody and transported by Delaware State Police troopers back to Troop 3, where he was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and no proof of insurance.
DelDOT is currently on the scene and are re-routing traffic onto Front Street due to Southern Boulevard and West Camden-Wyoming Avenue being blocked by the train. Officials are unsure how long the detour will remain in effect.
