  • Marilyn Rose Simon of Dover, formally of Smyrna, passed away on Sunday January 6, 2013 at Delaware Hospice in Milford.  She was 88. She was born in Milwaukee, WI to the late Alvin and Viola Baker.
    Marilyn was proud to serve her country during World War II and the Korean War as a WAVE.  She was an active member of the First State Wave Chapter.  She graduated San Diego State with a Bachelors degree. She worked as a librarian and in her later years, she was a homemaker.  She enjoyed metal detecting, stamp collecting, and watching and rooting for the Eagles.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry Simon in 2005, and her brother, Roy Baker of Oconomowoc, WI.  She is survived by her son, Reese K. Simon and his wife Susan of Magnolia, grandchildren Stuart L. Simon and Jonathan L. Simon and her brother ,Russ Baker of Fon Du Lac, WI.
    Services will be held at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Georgetown, DE on Monday, March 11, 2012 at 2:00 P.M.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Delaware Hospice Center 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE  19963 or the Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd. Milford, DE  19963.
