  • Dover Police Department patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting victim who arrived at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital ER at 11:56 pm Saturday.
The 22-year-old man was shot in the left arm area of South Kirkwood Street by an unknown suspect, Dover Police Lt. Daniel McKeown said. The Dover Police Criminal Investigations Unit began their investigation into the incident and believed the suspect was shot with a shotgun containing bird or steel shot (numerous small pellets).
However, the victim refused to cooperate in the investigation or the identification of the suspect, McKeown said. A spent shotgun shell consistent with the victim's wound was located in the area of 39 S. Kirkwood Street, he said.
There is no known motive for the shooting at this time, McKeown said. The suspect faces charges of assault in the second degree and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
