The Dover Police Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating a shooting in the city in which the 39-year-old man shot in the neck refuses to cooperate.
The Dover Police Department responded to a reported shooting at Whatcoat Village Apartments in the early hours of New Year's Day and found a 39-year-man with a gunshot wound to the neck.
Patrol officers were dispatched at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday and arrived to find the male victim inside the stairwell of the 930 Building, Lt. Daniel McKeown said. The man was transported to Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital for treatment and was released a short time later.
However, the victim refused to cooperate in the investigation or the identification of the suspect when the Dover Police Criminal Investigations Unit began their investigation into the incident, McKeown said. There is no known motive for the shooting at this time.
