Beatrice L. “ Bea” Harrington, 94, of Felton went home to be with her Savior and loved ones for Christmas, on December 25, 2012. Bea was born July 1, 1918 in Vernon, Delaware, to the late Charles and Doris Larimore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, George (Butch) Harrington, and a son, Edgar Sapp. Also preceding her in death were sisters Evelyn Lare, Elizabeth Zeitler, Charotte Deptula, and Ruth Eye and brothers Harry Larimore, Stanley Larimore, Charles Westley Larimore, Everette Larimore, Louis Larimore, Russell Larimore, and William West.
Prior to her retirement, she worked at General Foods, DuPont Company and the Felton School. Bea was very active in her community. She was a life member of the Felton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary where she would soon have celebrated 60 years of dedicated service. She was also a member of the Felton United Methodist Church, the Harrington Senior Center and the Democrat Club. In addition, she was a past member of the Avon Club and the Felton Historical Society. Until the past year, when her health began to fail, Bea could be found working at every firehouse activity and participating in church functions.
Bea is survived by her son, George “Butch” Harrington and his wife Terri of Felton, two grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many dedicated friends.
Butch and Terri would like to extend their heart-felt thanks to the dedicated staff of Silver Lake Center Health and Rehabilitation, where during her multiple visits over the past year, she became affectionately known as “Miss Bea”.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Berry Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton, Delaware where friends may call for a viewing from 11:00 to 1:00. Interment will be Hopkins Cemetery, Felton. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Felton Ladies Auxiliary P.O. Box 946, Felton, Delaware 19943 or the Felton U.M. Church P.O.
