Parks and Recreation may resurrect one of its best gags for a sequel! So get ready to Treat Yo' Self!
Parks executive producer Mike Schur tells TVGuide.com that the writers have been kicking around ideas for Round 2, which would surely see Donna (Retta) and Tom (Aziz Ansari) reunite for their annual day of luxury, during which they treat themselves to the spa and shopping.
"We've certainly talked about it because it was a thing that caught on with the fans and the internet lit up, but it's very risky to do that," Schur says. "You can only do it if it's better than the first time, because there's nothing worse than a disappointing sequel."
Considering "Treat Yo' Self" is Tom and Donna's annual tradition - which first aired during an October Season 4 episode - it seems likely we would see it return sometime before the end of Season 5.
"We really loved it and we thought it was really funny and I think it's maybe the funniest that Retta's ever been," Schur adds. "It's maybe one of my favorite Tom episodes and everyone was great, but we're only going to do it if we can do it in a way that feels like it's something new and different and more fun than the first time."
Do you think Parks should resurrect our favorite day? And what would you like to see Tom and Donna - and hopefully Ben (Adam Scott) again - do during "Treat Yo' Self 2.0"? Hit the comments!
Parks and Recreation airs Thursdays at 9:30/8:30c on NBC.
