  • A 49-year-old Felton man died Wednesday morning following a single-vehicle crash south of Woodside.
Clarence L. Peterson was taken to Kent General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The crash occurred on Upper King Road, south of Henry Cowgill Road, about 12:30 a.m., according to state police.
Peterson’s 1998 Jeep Cherokee drove off the west side of the roadway and travelled more than 300 feet, striking three mailboxes and two utility poles before rolling over onto the driver’s side, police said.
Peterson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the Jeep and landed on the asphalt shoulder of the road, police said.
Upper King Road, south of Henry Cowgill Road, was closed for about three hours while police investigated the scene and cleared the roadway.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said.
