  • Clayton Town Council approved three recommendations from the Street Committee Tuesday night stemming from concerns brought up at the October council meeting. The committee discussed the items at a separate meeting.
Council approved a request from the Clayton Tavern owner for three "15-minute" parking spots in front of the package store on Main Street – two in front of the store and one across the street. The town will paint the signs on the road.
The second complaint discussed by the committee was in reference to people parking on Smyrna Avenue too close to Dickerson Street.
"People are coming around the corner and catching the car parked there and whipping back," Lightcap said.
Council approved the committee's recommendation to put "No Parking" signs on the north side of Smyrna Avenue from the corner to the second driveway, and to paint the curb yellow showing no parking for 20 feet on the townhomes side.
The third concern referenced a speeding issue in the Wheatley's Pond development. Council approved a recommendation from the committee to put a "Children at Play" sign at the entrance of the development and to go from there.
"If that doesn't work, we'll go to stop signs and we're going to enforce radar out there," Lightcap said.
There will be no change in the speed limit at this time.
