Dearest readers, I am sorry that I don’t have a thought provoking or uplifting post for you today. We have a nasty cold that has been working its way through my family, and I just haven’t been able to keep up with new content for the blog. I will return — hopefully this weekend — but in the meantime, please enjoy this little project I whipped up before the Great Family Cold of 2012. Blessings to you all!

I love my iPad and my electronic calendar, but I haven’t been able to find a calendar app that works for helping me organize my blog and my publishing schedule for my newspaper column. Perhaps I should return to paper, I thought… and so the wheels began turning.

I found a 5X7 weekly planner at Dollar Tree that had simple pages and would be easy to carry around in my purse… but I didn’t like the plastic cover.

Look what was underneath the cover, though: Beautiful, blank kraft paper.

I love rounded corners so I took my craft punch and got to work on the edges of the pages. I stamped one of my favorite designs on the front and dabbed color around the edges with a sponge.

On the back, I stamped a scripture — which I think is slightly crooked so don’t look too closely. My scripture stamps are ancient. I got them from Stampin’ Up and I have no idea if they still sell them…

You could, of course, add images and scriptures throughout the pages, but I didn’t get that far. My kids needed dinner or something. These would make great gifts, too, and you could add embellishments and photos and all kinds of things.

If you try this project, please send a picture. I’d love to see your ideas!
