  • Jenna Hayes and Brandi Dalious tallied goals for the Panthers as Polytech defeated Wilmington Christian 2-0 to advance to the DIAA Field Hockey State Tournament Semifinals.
The two teams played to a scoreless tie through the first half, with neither team able to find the back of the net.
At the 23:41 mark Hayes would put the Panthers on top 1-0. Less than two minutes later Dalious would strike to give Polytech a commanding lead. After scoring two goals in less than five minutes the quick striking offensive attack had Wilmington Christian playing desperately through the final minutes of the game.
However, the Panther defense and strong goaltending from Lauren Lee kept Wilmington Christian off the scoreboard. Even though Lee wasn't tested, having to make only 3 saves in the game, the freshman goaltender played strong and under control. The kind of goaltending performance that has helped lead the Panthers this far.
First team all-conference star Jenna Hayes continued her offensive tear, credited with the game-winner.
The Panthers will take on the #2 seed Delmar this Thursday afternoon, the winner will play for the DIAA State Championship.
Delmar ended the cinderella run by Sussex Tech, defeating them 2-1 on Thursday to advance.
Delmar and Polytech met back in late September with Delmar coming out on top 3-1.
