  • Charlotte Louise Lins of Dover passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at home surrounded by her friends and family.
Mrs. Lins was born on June 1, 1922 in Washington, Iowa to the late Charles R. Longer and Geneva Evans Longer.
She grew up in Iowa until she married her long time sweetheart, Warren E. Lins, a pilot in the USAF.  She was a wonderful homemaker and traveled the world with her husband and four children.  In 1963, Mrs. Lins and her husband retired to Dover, DE where she took a position at  JC Penney on Loockerman Street for several years.
Mrs. Lins ran a cattery for Persian cats under the name of “Lucky Lins”.  She loved, raised and showed Persians for 25 years, winning numerous Blue ribbons and taking home the “Grand Championship” with her favorite, Gorgeous.
She was an avid doll collector, enjoyed tending to her rose bushes, crossword puzzles, listening to the Lawrence Welk show and Andre Reiu, going to yard sales and weekly trips to Spence’s Bazaar for pork tenderloin and strawberry shortcake.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Warren E. Lins in 1994.
Mrs. Lins is survived by her daughters Nancy J. Lins of Dover, Rebecca A. Surguy of Dover, Susan R. Flinn of Smyrna and her son Michael C. Lins and his wife Donna of Dover, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 5 pm on Wednesday, November 14 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Modern Maturity Center Daybreak Adult Daycare Program, Hospice, SPCA or Delaware Humane Society.
