An 18-year-old from Dover turned himself in Saturday morning for the murder of another Dover man, which occurred in the Oak Grove Mobile Home Park in Dover.
According to the Delaware State Police, troopers responded to a trailer located on Lot 18 in Oak Grove Mobile Home Park in Dover to check on the welfare of 40-year-old Isidro Vasquez Hernandez, who had not been seen since Monday, Oct. 15. Police say a concerned friend responded to the trailer on Friday evening to check on Hernandez. When he did not come to the door, the friend called 911.
When troopers arrived at the home, they discovered what appeared to be blood on the walls and floors while checking the residence through the windows, police said. Forced entry was made and the troopers discovered Hernandez dead on the bedroom floor.
At Approximately 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Joshua Cathell, 18, of Dover, walked into Troop 3 near Dover after learning he was being sought for questioning in regards to the death of Hernandez, police said.
Detectives learned that Cathell had shot Hernandez one time in the head and then drug him into the bedroom. Cathell then fled the scene in Hernandez' vehicle, which was later found abandoned in Rodney Village Shopping Center, police said.
Cathell was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center without bail.
