William Anthony Morgan “Tony” of Dover passed away Monday October 1, 2012 at home after a battle with cancer. He was 63.
Mr. Morgan was born November 15, 1948 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the Frances Paxton Morgan.
He was a veteran in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War where he flew many hours throughout Vietnam to bring supplies to the troops. He served from 1968 till 1993. During his military career he received several medals and accommodations. Mr. Morgan had worked for Reicold Chemical Company and became a Research Chemist in Quality Control Division in the development of latex backing and fireproofing for carpet backing and also polymers for latex paint. In 1976 he took the test for the Philadelphia Police Department, but during the testing phase of the academy he was offered a job920th Weather Reconnaissance Group at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS, while there as a crew chief as a hurricane hunter her flew various hurricane missions. In 1982 he received a degree in Business Administration and Management with a minor in Sociology; in 1984 he graduated from Community College of the Air Force with an AA Degree in Military Technology. In 1985 his son Anthony was born and he started his own business as a general contractor. In 1989 nominated as AMC Civilian of the Year award. Mr. Morgan was activated for Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He retired from the service reserves in 1993 and after 40 years retired from the military in 2003. He then started working at Lowes in 1999 working his way up to Zone Manager retiring in 2009. Mr. Morgan loved selling items at Spences Market with his son.
Mr. Morgan is survived by his mother Frances Morgan of Dover; his son, Anthony V. Morgan of Dover; his former wife Susan C. Faulkner and Ryan D. Peachey who he considered his son.
Funeral service s will be held 3pm Saturday October 13, 2012 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 1 – 3.
