Kenneth R. Bradley, 27, of Frederica, was arrested by Delaware State Police and charged with the third degree rape of a 15-year-old girl.

Delaware State Police arrested a 27-year-old Frederica man on Monday for the statutory rape of a 15-year-old girl.

State troopers began investigating the alleged sexual relationship between the man and the girl on Monday, and later that same day Kenneth R. Bradley turned himself in to state troopers and was immediately arrested, Cpl. Gary Fournier said Wednesday.

The State Police investigation began when detectives learned that Bradley, 27, had entered into a sexual relationship with the girl, Fournier said.

The two had met at a home on the 300 block of Bowers Beach Road in Frederica through a mutual friend in April of 2012, Fournier said. Soon thereafter, Bradley allegedly started a sexual relationship with the teenager and continued that relationship until September 2012, he said.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Bradley’s arrest and he turned himself in to Troop 3 near Dover on Monday, Fournier said. He was charged with six counts of rape in the third degree and six counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Bradley was arraigned at Delaware Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach. He was then committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna in lieu of $66,000 secured bond.

Fournier declined to elaborate on what tipped Delaware State Police in connection to this case. He also declined to say what school she attended.

“In order to protect the victim that's all we will release about that,” he said.

Police did not have a photo of Bradley available.
