After barricading himself in a Camden home for 10 hours Wednesday, a 49-year-old man was taken into custody by Delaware State Police.
The incident began at noon Wednesday, when police received a call after a domestic incident at a residence int he Wild Quail development. Police were told an armed man was barricaded inside the home, State Police Spokesman Paul Shavack said.
Several homes along Green Winged Trail in Wild Quail were evacuated and the entrance to that street was blocked off for several hours while the state police's Special Operations Response Team attempted to persuade him to surrender.
At approximately 10:10 p.m., Wednesday night, Shavack said the Delaware special operations response team made entry into the house and located the man, where he was taken into custody without incident. The man suffered undisclosed self-inflicted wounds and was treated by DSP SORT medics and transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation of non-life threatening injuries, Shavack said. The suspect's treatment or status was not available as of 10:45 p.m.
Troopers continue to investigate this incident with charges pending the conclusion of the investigation, Shavack said.
The man's name has not yet been released by police.
The evacuated residents have been permitted to return to their houses.
Police said more information on the incident will be released when it becomes available.
