  • Col. Michael David Pyott, 46, of Gainesville died Friday September 21, 2012.
    Born in Dover, Delaware, Col. Pyott had lived in Hall County for the past four years. Col. Pyott had served in the U.S. Army since 1988. He had served as the Professor of Military Science at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega from 2008 until 2012, and had just recently been named the Director of the BB&T Center for Ethical Business Leadership.
    Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at the Northlake Baptist Church. The Rev. Danny Jones, Rev. Quentin Self and Chaplain Dan Rice will officiate.
    The family will receive friends at the Northlake Baptist Church on Tuesday September 25, 2012 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
    In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Friends of the Fallen at www.friendsofthefallen.org.
    Survivors include his wife; Meredith Pyott, of Gainesville; daughter, Olivia Pyott, of Gainesville; son, Luke Pyott, of Gainesville; mother and father, Mary and George Pyott,  of Dover; sister and brother-in-law; Mardi and Harold Spangler of Dover and their daughter, Marina.
