Deanna Campagnini, age 47, of Lewes, Del., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, after a courageous battle against a terminal illness.
She was born on March 1, 1965 in Chester, Pa., daughter of Dorothy Anne “Dottie” and Horace “Hank” Campagnini of Lewes.
Deanna graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1983 and from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Rochester, N.Y. with her masters in Environmental Engineering. As a teenager she worked with her dad at Dover Auto Body. After graduation she worked for the Kent County Waste Water Plant. She later worked for First State Community Action and most recently worked at the Southeast Division Rural Community Assistance Partnership (RCAP) in Dover, Del.
Deanna was a member of several organizations including the Lewes American Legion Post #0028 and Lewes Moose Lodge #646. She was a talented artist, enjoyed the beach and great outdoors, however, fishing was her greatest passion. Every spare minute she had it was spent fishing or going on fishing trips with the girls, “Diana, Anette, Cheryl, Andi, and Joann.” Deanna was known for her great sense of humor and her storytelling skills were the best, bar none. While Deanna loved to have fun, she also knew when to focus and concentrate on things of importance, a trait she would pass on to all of her nieces and nephews. If ever you needed to know something, it was a given that Deanna was the one to ask. Deanna believed that education was paramount and encouraged all her nieces and nephews to pursue their education; she leaves behind life lessons that will be passed on to future generations. Deanna was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who will be remembered by so many.
In addition to her parents, Deanna is survived by her two brothers: Anthony Campagnini and his wife Lori of Milford, Del. and Stan Jankowski and his wife Becky of Pittsfield, Mass.; two sisters: Marge Eckard and her husband Ken of Dover, Del. and Amy Nogueira and her husband Wanderson of Georgetown, Del.; her nephew whom she considered a son, Aaron Henrich of Dover, Del.; numerous other nieces and nephews; grand nieces and nephews; two cats: Zeus and Jasper; and countless dear friends whom she considered family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
