Smyrna resident Chris Sylvester, a Republican, will challenge Democratic incumbent Rep. William Carson for the 28th District Representative seat in the Nov. 6 General Election.
"We need leaders that will stop the passage of unnecessary laws and roll-back the regulations that restrict property owners and small businesses," said Sylvester. "We need leaders in Delaware that will restrain taxes, control government spending, protect the rights and liberties of individuals, and add jobs to the Delaware economy."
Sylvester, 25, was raised on his family's farm outside of Felton, is a graduate of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering technology, and currently works for the Delaware Department of Transportation as a traffic engineer.
"My faith in Delaware provides me with hope for our future, as I know that Delawareans are naturally hard workers. We are men and women that want to provide for our families. We are parents and grandparents who want to ensure a future of opportunity for our children and grandchildren. We are entrepreneurs and business owner who want to forgo a hangout and stand on our own two feet," he said. "It is my experience working for the State of Delaware, my service as Chairman of the 28th RD Republican Committee, and my tenure as President of my homeowners association that have prepared me to be the leader Delaware needs in Dover."
Sylvester currently lives in Smyrna and is the Chair of the 28th RDRC. He is also a member of the American Society of Highway Engineers, Institute of Transportation Engineers, Loyal Order of the Moose, as well as, President of the Villas of West Shore Maintenance Corporation, Treasurer of the Delmarva Rugby Club, and Vice Chairman of the Kent County Young Republicans.
