The Dover Senators took down Delcastle in the football season opener on Saturday morning, 42-0.
The Dover Senators enter the season widely regarded as one of state's top contenders. Their journey to the top started off well enough with a 42-0 victory over Delcastle.
The Senators scored all 42 of their points in a first half dominated on both sides of the ball by Dover.
Dover ran a hurry-up offense that gave the Cougars fits, catching Delcastle with only 10 men on defense multiple times.
While the offense was clicking, so to was the Dover defense that held the Cougars rushing attack to negative yards for much of the game.
In the second half the Senators backups got some work in as the starters rested to prepare for a battle with Salesianum next week.
"We were able to do some good things out there today," said Dover Head Coach Carlton Brown. "We're focusing on getting better each and everyday."
Brown addressed his team after the game to remind his players to keep their eyes on the prize in front of them despite the big victory over Delcastle.
"We're going to have a good week of practice and get ready for Sallies," said Brown. "It's important for us to stay focused and never be satisfied, always striving to get better."
