Nicole Stevenson was born on September 18, 1992 in Dover, DE. She passed away on August 30, 2012 at home in Camden with her family. Nicole was the beloved daughter of Nadine N. (Stevenson) & Eugene Chance both of Camden, Delaware.
Nicole graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 2010 in Camden, DE. Nicole was a manager of the Caesar Rodney High School Varsity Football team from 2008 to 2010. She was a phenomenal member of Caesar Rodney High School Girls Track Team, where her passion and dedication brought her many great achievements. She was committed to her strength training and conditioning. Nicole was the first freshman to ever run under a minute in the 400 meter dash. Nicole was a state champion in 2007 for the 800 Meter Relay, All State in 2008 for the 800 Meter Relay and in 2010 for the 1600 Meter Relay with teammates: Hope Brown, Khadijah Hunt, Nicole Brown with Nicole as the anchor; they currently hold the school record of 3:52.78. She received 11 first place conference championships awards from 2007 to 2010. The 200 Meter Dash in 2010, the 400 Meter Dash in 2007, 2009 and 2010, the 800 Meter Relay from 2007 through 2010, and the 1600 Meter Relay from 2008 through 2010. She was Team Undefeated Dual Meet Champion and Team Conference Meet Champion from 2007 to 2009. Nicole was the team captain from 2009-2010.
Nicole accepted a Track & Field Scholarship on May 11th, 2010 to Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Nicole was a puzzle master. She could complete a 1000 piece puzzle in one day. She was also a collector of many things. Nicole collected stuffed animals, jewelry, nail polish, pillows and basically anything she could get Miss Cathy from Child Life to get her. Nicole also loved to color, watch cartoons, enjoy game nights with family, and her favorite pass time was movie night with her little brother Eugene.
Nicole is survived by her loving devoted parents, Nadine and Eugene Chance; her paternal father Alfonzo Lee; two sisters, Maxine Coston and Tyneshia Harmon; three brothers, Willie Knight, Nathaniel Stevenson and Eugene Chance III; a great-grandmother, Naomi Stevenson; three grandmothers, Betty Lee, Helen Marie Chance and Victoria Stevenson, a God-Mother, April Sims-Randolph; a God-Brother, James Sims; God-Grand-parents, George and Marilyn Simms; a very special nephew, Nicholas Crawford, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A service for Nicole will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8th at the Calvary Baptist Church, Route 8 (Forrest Ave.), Dover, DE; with a viewing beginning at 9AM, and services starting promptly at 11AM.
