Wade Eric Young went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Bayhealth Hospital in Dover, DE. He was 50 years of age. Wade was born December 23, 1961 in Dover, DE to the late Riddie Mae (Bryan) Young and James Nathaniel Young. Wade graduated from Dover High School where he loved sports and played football throughout his high school years.
Wade served a four-year apprenticeship with Millwright & Machinery Erectors Local Union No. 1545. In 2002, he worked under a new charter, Millwright & Machinery Erectors Local Union 1906 in Philadelphia, Pa., and worked for 30 years at different facilities in the Tri-State area. This included 20 years at the Delaware City refinery, where he was affectionately known as Bull Winkle. Wade loved to grill and barbecue at home in the back yard. His other interests were salmon fishing in Alaska, drag racing and all types of sports.
Wade loved the Lord and his life was a reflection of unselfishness. He was gentle and caring and had a heart of compassion to others. No burden was too heavy that he would not try to help lift. He was a man of few words. He is survived by a sister Ann Elizabeth Dagen (Michael) of Dover, two brothers and a sister-in-law, James Norman Young Newark , DE and Gordon Jeffery Young (Delsie S) of Portland, Or, nephew Jerrell Marshall Young (Kansas) and Theresa Elizabeth Young, Portland, Or, and a great niece Addison Statcher (Kansas), one god-daughter Jacqueline Joyce Bryan, Middletown, DE, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Viewing was held Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6 – 8 pm at the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
Funeral Services were Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 1:30 pm with viewing one half hour prior to the service at Pentecostal Church of Dover, 4462 W. Denny’s Rd Dover, DE. Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
