Leon Morris (Hazel) Porter Sr. devoted husband, father and grandfather, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 30, 2012 after a year-long battle with colon cancer. Mr. Porter was born on March 3rd, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Albert Hazel and Margaret Best (Guardians Booker and Lillian Porter) He was a retired Social Worker for the State of Delaware, in his retirement he kept busy by being a long haul trucker.
Mr. Porter is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, June E. Porter. As well as his three sons, Leon Morris Porter Jr. of Norfolk, VA, Brian Kelly Porter and his wife Naoko Nishitani of Denver, CO and Michael Aaron Porter of Northeast MD. He is also survived by his much loved grandson, Isaiah William Michael Porter, as well as a host of other relatives and friends in Delaware, Chicago and New York, and Aiken, SC.
Mr. Porter enjoyed being with his family, fishing, model railroading, and showering gifts, praise and attention on his grandson Isaiah.
According to his wishes, there will be a small private graveside service on Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Interment will be at The Garden of the Prophets in Sharon Hills Memorial Park.
