  • Newport's Rowing Club's Nathan Smith was selected to represent the U.S. next month in Plovdiv, Bulgaria at the World Rowing Junior Championships. He will compete against more than 600 junior athletes from 50 countries.
“This has been a dream of mine since I started rowing – to be on the Junior National Team. And now that it has become a reality, it's a little hard to believe, “says Smith. “I'm really looking forward to the competition at Worlds and going to Bulgaria, too. This will be my first trip to Europe, and what a great reason to visit.
Located along the Christina River, the Newport Rowing Club (NRC) was created in July 2010 as a private/public partnership to train young athletes and promote competitive and recreational rowing as a lifetime sport.
